Short Takes

Fever Pitch (2005) - Jimmy Fallon and Drew Barrymore play a couple dealing with Fallon's deep, deep, deep devotion to the Boston Red Sox. Very charming and funny and happened to be filmed when the Red Sox won the World Series. A great date flick, in the best possible definition.

After the Sunset (2004) - Salma Hayek and Pierce Brosnan play retired jewel thieves who live the life of luxury in a beautiful, tropical location. They are hounded, however, by Woody Harrelson, playing a relentless FBI agent who has been at the wrong end of their heists. The film is funny and clever. And, any movie where Salma Hayek spends 75% of her time in various bathing suits... well, just how bad can it be?

Firefly (2002) - The pilot to one of my favorite television series in history aired last night on Universal High Definition. I don't know if they plan on showing the entire series in HD, but it was great to see the fine cast perform the excellent script in beautiful high definition.
