Gabe's new and improved swing is finally coming around. After weeks of tweaking his swing to incorporate his hips more, thereby giving him more power, he's finally starting to make consistent contact.
Tuesday night he went 4 - 4, with two line drives to the outfield and two strong hits through the infield. You can see the highlights HERE (you know the drill, big file, Internet Explorer).
In an otherwise typical night at the fields, we fought back, but ended up losing 13-9 to the Oldsmar Indians. Gabe pitched three-innings and struggled a bit, but for good reason. He's trying off-speed pitches (change-ups, no curve balls) during different counts... they require a different release point, so, like his swing, these additions to his pitching repertoire will offer some challenges at first, but we're hopeful he'll have it all worked out by All-Stars.

Gabe - You look great out there!
Luke likes watching Gabe run, and Sarah is LOVING the music! :)--she could care less about what Gabe is doing, but wants to hear the music over and over. What is it?
Its from a CD of royalty free music. The track is called Tribal Fusion.
Great to watch. Keep working on that swing Gabe! I don't know how to swing like that but I know when it looks right! (ala...Dad). Hey, what's with that outfielder with a different uniform on? A last minute addition?
The other team only had 8 kids, so the borrowed one from another Oldsmar team playing on the field next to us.
The double looked like at impact he hit it off the end of the bat and he still creamed that pitch. His first home run isn't far away swinging like that. Not to mention lefty if you slowmo his swing it's so fundamentally sound. Stick a wall behind that kid. He won't care. Seems to be getting stronger and stronger.
Can he hit the weights yet or is that still a little ways off? He has a great frame for putting on muscle. I could watch that kid play all day. The team losing would piss me off though.
